watch this video (well, go to the link and watch the video on the right side of the page. sorry, it wouldn't embed). it was on the local news yesterday. this is my new/ old town. i got tears when i watched it (man i get tears a lot and i'm not even pregnant!). the nicodemus family lives two houses down from us. i know them as mr. and mrs. nicodemus...they were friends of my grandparents and some of the last old timers around the town. i can still smell that musty library scent from early memories. climbing the stairs with my gram. checking out the children's section while she visited with the librarian. it's where i found james and the giant peach. closing a library? it's unspeakable. sign me up...i'll volunteer for a weekly shift.

Wow, this (and your previous posts) brought tears to my eyes and imagine that...I am pregnant!
ReplyDeleteYour boys are going to be so happy growing up there :-)

I feel sick... OK, you need to do something about this right now. If there is an action group, join it... If there isn't you need to make one pronto...
ReplyDeleteJust horrible!
we drove out there today to sign the petition and join in the fight:) the people there are very organized in standing up for what they believe in!
ReplyDeleteI have such fond memories of the library--both as a child growing up in Louviers and as an adult living there. It is a darn shame to think of closing not just that library but any library. What did you think of the bowling alley? Did you know that as a child (probably beginning my 8th grade year), I set pins in that bowling alley. I think that now they have automatic pin setters, but in the "dark" ages, pin setters weren't invented.
