does anybody else relate to this joy? we took the boys to a nuggets game on saturday. it was a 7pm game. my kids usually sack out around 8pm. and much to their credit...they were the most well behaved little guys i have hung out with in awhile. they did not throw temper tantrums when brad said no cotton candy. sweet pea didn't throw a fit when his carter jersey was too expensive. they chatted and charmed the socks off of all the people around us including the drunk college pukers that had to be escorted out by the medic and police. they were not fussy when it got to be 9:00 and the game wasn't over. when we got back to the car they danced and sang and got their sillys out before the ride home. we rocked out to beastie boys the whole way home. and they slept in the next morning until nearly 8am (7:45 is our new current household record for sleeping in with children. yep, 4 years and we still haven't made it to 8am).
when we had the kids buckled in the car...brad and i looked at each other and just smiled. it was the first family outing in 4 years that we felt the most like normal human beings with children. we were the relaxed laid back couple we used to be and we got to watch an entire basketball game together...with our sweet boys cheering the team on. we had so much fun together. what a wonderful evening and good memory with the boys! i wonder if this is the light at the end of the tunnel i've heard about? fingers crossed.....
this story just made my tummy do flips!
