boys will be boys

i looked over at the pantry...(just before i jumped up, got my camera, ran back to my chair - as beansie held this pose...right!) and wondered what my little adventurous boy was doing. he says okay? after everything he does. "mommy, my going to get in dere, okay? my going to be jay bird, okay? my going to the store, okay?" he also replaces I with my.
ahhh, yes. the sweet cereal. and i'm slightly aghast at just how much is in there. thank goodness brad eats most of it. but that box of cheerios....how long has it been since finger food? my children now avoid cheerios like the plague.
i was solo tonight for bedtime. yikes! have i mentioned that i'm a pushover for these guys? and they have my number? right out of the gates...sweet pea clothes lined beans. he was so sweet in apologizing and loving his brother only after he spent tens of minutes crying and fussing over the timeout he earned (in his bedroom with the door closed). i told him i wouldn't even discuss his behavior until he was in his jammies ready for bed. however, seeing as that is our enormous source of contention right now, i fear i picked the wrong battle. especially in the midst of being in time out. what was i thinking? my only weapon was to invoke the taekwondo muscles. i persuaded him that he had to use his muscles to dress himself or they would go away. right....boys, muscles, and forgiveness. all was well by bedtime...or was it?!? it took me 90 minutes to get beans to stay in his bed. it takes brad 5. sweet pea was sound asleep before i could make it back in his room for our last story. brad walked in the door right as a stray dog chased a rabbit through our front yard...both dogs barking, me frozen in horror on the bottom step....whew! still asleep. good thing i only had 10 things on my to do list tonight...putting beans back to sleep is not one of them (believe in the power of positive thinking...).

  1. I know when i'm going through it, it won't be funny, but reading it is hilarious. poor beans.

Jonah also goes to sleep a lot easier for Nathan.
