last weekend we went camping without beans. it was a bittersweet time because he is such a joy to be around, but at the same time he is so young and cannot really enjoy all that camping has to offer (read: it's too cold at night for a baby and some of us are happy sleeping through the night). on our way home i picked him up from my mom's house, and before i could even get him out of his carseat, sweetpea pushed me out of the way and jumped in the car to hug and kiss his brother. he told beans, "big brother missed you so much. i love you baby brother." i had tears in my eyes at the love and kindness sweet pea showed in that moment. it gives me great hope for the future of our little family. and i said a little prayer right there in the driveway, that this brotherly love they have for each other will not be ephemeral.
