sometime ago i read something on flea market style by guest poster jeanne oliver. she was talking about my hood. and the barn. and i was wading through the depths of my grandparents belongings. and wallowing in vintage nostalgia. i commented on her blog. we emailed. and then...the week before haiti. when my heart was wide open and i was struggling with faith but just so open to every possibility. at the height of my inspiration. i met her. she wanted the parking space next to mine. she wanted my shopping cart. my heart was racing because i've never met a "real" blogger. i introduced myself and felt like the most amazing cad. a blog stalker. a weirdo in the parking lot of michael's. so silly. i had been inspired by her art, inspired by her words, and encouraged to be vulnerable. and i knew i just had to take that step. there are no accidents.
{B} and i went to art night at the barn last night hosted by jeanne. i walked away feeling accomplished and satisfied at the end result. i never once thought...i am not an artist. i cannot do this. i was just open to the experience. a blank canvas.
i walked away with jeanne oliver inspired art. and a million ideas for the horseshoe market and the wood butcher. the night was valuable in ways i had never imagined. i am really looking forward to the next event.
