just a little love from a morning walk around the yard. i am hoping that my veggies make it through the birds, raccoons and rabbits. i have 3 canning projects in mind for the late summer: salsa, pickles, and anything tomato. i am also anticipating an abnormally large shipment of beets from the csa in the next few weeks. i have no pickled beet recipes. that is why, my friends, i am hoping to win this giveaway (but don't you go getting any ideas and try to enter yourself...unless you are planning to give it up to selfish ol' me!). i'm in need of some canning ideas. and...chickens (back to the giveaway). so, peanut gallery...got any good canning recipes for me? got any family secret recipes you want to share for pickled beets? thoughts on chickens? i would so appreciate your input. seriously. xoxo

i will learn to can with you. pick me! anyway as for chickens my friend samantha keeps her own, i can hook you all up for a conversation of chickens if you would like.
ReplyDeleteI have no choice but to share my pickled beet recipe with you. The only problem is...it's not so much "mine" as it is my mom's. So, I'll conference her in and get back to you, asap.
ReplyDeleteps - Can we officially be pretend BFFs? You had me at "Pickled Beets"...
Beautiful pictures, Meghan! We're having fun with our garden this year too. Last year the gophers just yanked our tomato plants straight down under the ground. This year we've had pounds and pounds of strawberries. Rob and the kids had fun making jam. Our tomatoes are looking good too, but we've only been able to pick a couple so far. We'll see how it goes with the rest of it too...
ReplyDeleteWe welcomed 6 two day old chicks to our family in February, and we have had so much fun with them. I call Rob Mother Hen because they follow him everywhere. The kids had so much fun naming them, and they love taking care of them too. The chickens wander up by the house, and it's fun watching them interact with our dogs. We can't wait for eggs, hopefully sometime in July.
Keep us posted on your adventures, my friend!
Love,
Claire
