fun, fall day

can i just tell you how fabulous swimming lessons are? i know it's fall....i know we just left a neighborhood with an incredible community pool that we used only 7 times in the last 7 years. i really just decided that the boys had to participate in something (other than story time) and learning to swim is just long overdue. absent of a community pool, we travel over the river, through the woods, to a far off land near kansas for our swimming lessons. and yes, i leave an hour early so the kids will sleep in the car and i can read. selfish? i think not. the first lesson was a disaster and not well planned at all. while i did a parent/ tot class with beans, sweet pea sat in lane 1 on the stairs crying and mouthing the words, "come. and. get. me." over and over again. he told me he would never wear a swimsuit again and i believed him. but somehow we got him switched to a different class with a different teacher and he is now having the time of his life. it's amazing. lane 2 and miss lindsay seem to be the magic. he is so proud of himself, and i of him. this week he did the unspeakable and jumped off the side of the pool. hooray! and beans, well beans had to be toned down a bit. his teacher actually asked him to stop running and jumping off the side. no cannon balls for him. not just yet...truly amazing what a month in the pool will do for a child's confidence.
