it seems like just yesterday i was saying a little prayer about how i hoped the family who was coming to see our house would be "the ones" to buy it. lo and behold...they snatched our place right up. i got the chance to meet them last week and it was kind of one of those rare opportunities to see who was actually going to be living in our space. it was fun to hear their ideas and see how excited they were. very nice to put faces with signatures on contracts. we got to chatting in between their measuring for hardwood and me putting my groceries away. they have been living in apartments since their baby was two months old. she's 4 now and she has never had a back yard to play in. their house in missouri was on the market for 3 1/2 years while they've moved around the country for her husband's work. she told me that a defining moment for her was when they moved to wyoming and the garbage man kept stopping by to ask if he could help with their stuff. she asked the landlord about it and found out they had moved into the garbage man's old apartment. she said, "we were just moving in, while he was moving up." so all this time they have been saving and making do while they waited for their dream to come true. i can't tell you how much she thanked us for giving them the opportunity to own our home. truly it was humbling. and i looked at her sweet little girl with the big brown curls and thought about how much fun she's going to have playing with little miss e across the street. the last thing she said before we melted into tears together was....i told my realtor that when we sold our house in missouri, everyone involved would be blessed. boy was she ever right! and to think she thought we were doing them a favor.
so cool... i can't no wait to see how the new house comes together.
ReplyDeleteLetting go of a home is so darn emotional! That's awesome that you got to meet (and seemed to like!) the new owners. It will help.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool. I also can't wait to see what you are going to do with the new place. :)
