happiness

i was having a conversation with another mother at drop-off for preschool yesterday when a friend walked up to sweet pea and said, "maiya wants you to have this." she handed him a much folded piece of construction paper that he quickly disregarded. and of course i snatched it right up and took a peak...oh when friendship was so simple. i will treasure these innocent days with all my heart. she makes things for him often. shapes that are becoming pictures. one day i almost cried because i thought he drew a face with features nearly in the right places...but alas it was maiya. she is whatever you can be at age 4...in her own way smitten...she bubbles when we walk in the door. sigh....
