an idea....

i am a food waster and i do not like it. so....i am offering up my motherly services and portioning out our leftovers to some very sweet friends (thanks for being brave enough to eat my cooking). that equates to roughly 3 meals of leftovers a week for each of them (tons of savings on not eating out in downtown denver). if they like it, we'll negotiate my salary (hee hee), but for now i'm just sick of taking the time to freeze leftovers before i throw them away. oh...and it's not because i'm a leftover snob either. i like leftovers....but i like cooking even better. we have a lot of extra food in our house. so i'm thinking that i want to find an elderly person/ couple to take a meal to (or chocolatey sweet goodness). also, jh mentioned that she took cookies to the firestation in her neighborhood. that's a great idea as well! one last mention is heifer international. (secret selfish wish - my boss should donate some of his cattle so i won't have to count them at the end of the year).
we woke up to more snow this morning - truly heavenly. sweet pea insisted that i make him a crown. he wanted to wear it to the grocery store and on our morning errands.beans crown looked so nice before he slobbered on it and tore it into itty bitty bits and pieces all over the house.
we shoveled the walks for both of our neighbors without asking and found out that each of them had lost a special loved one in the last week (another dad...). they were both terribly sad and i felt so thankful that we enjoy spending time in the snow and were able to help out. then we went sledding! i was able to drag both boys to the park on the sled without having to carry it at all. and in true colorado fashion, the snow was nearly melted one hour later on our way home.

sweet pea and beans are my sweet little snow angels.

  1. Giving certainly nourishes the soul and it makes mine joyous that you've turned into such a giving person. I've always been so proud of your CASA volunteerism--it was a huge committment. Of course I'm prejudice but can be objective also.
    Always your mom
