pumpkin cookies

iced pumpkin cookies are hands down the best cookies i've ever had. i make them every october, right around halloween. the only modification i've made over the years is to use store bought cream cheese frosting. this year i had a little help from my assistant sweet pea. we were waiting for brad dad to get back from the store with the sugar....sweet pea started out stirring the dry ingredients together while i...while i...zoned out for a minute...suddenly realizing sweet pea was telling me "i added a little bit more mommy." i looked over and there were two possible options - baking powder or baking soda. neither option was good. i figured it would all work out in the end, but i was wrong. turns out he added a lot. i had given half of them away before i knew how bad, bad was. i had packaged up a whole bundle of cookies to send to my biggest pumpkin cookie fan. but i'm so sorry, john stc. this year's cookies just won't do. if you can wait i'll whip up another batch and get them to you in the next couple of weeks. in the meantime....hope you are drooling over the picture of cookies yet to come.
