about this time every year we head up the hill for a little hoe down better known as clam bake (originally titled for the clam bake the legnard's used to have back east way before it moved to colorado). at my first clam bake in 1997 i was introduced to a cute guy named brad (thanks to jp and dt). brad made sure to let me know that if i wasn't absolutely smitten with him it would be "my loss." i guess mr. right really knew how to win me over, since we've been together ever since. over the years the party has changed from leaving our keys upon arrival and pitching a tent in the woods, to pitching a jumpy castle instead?!?
it's possible that the kids outnumber the adults, now. and there are games more suitable for small children instead of the games we used to play - lawn darts and mountain bowling.
our hosts put on a great shindig and brew/serve up wonderful beverages (mmmm....beer....) and some great crawfish and cajun food which i am pleased to say sweet pea enjoyed. john pulled the meat out of this poor little guy and sweet pea chewed on it for nearly an hour. i was literally shocked and amazed that he would eat something like this since he refuses to eat anything meat-like at home. maybe i should serve more sea creatures...
the weather was beautiful and the food was great. our only regret was missing out on susie's homemade chocolate chip cookies. oh well, maybe next year...
