long weekend

this is where we bid a fond farewell to aunt bonnie from abraska. she's been with us for two weeks and finally got fed up with the whole lot of us and fled. it was very nice to have her with us, especially under the circumstances. i think we all were a great comfort to each other....
then we had a great long weekend with grandpa john and grandma brenda who drove to denver all the way from the big city of idaho falls. they beat the hentzen's by a day, but we got to enjoy the nice weekend weather and had a bbq with our friends and family from idaho. the hentzens got to watch the rock's lose but didn't have to see them get lambasted so they got that going for them. sweet pea stayed up so late chasing the big boys around the yard. they were playing hide and seek and i swear sweet pea wanted to be it each time. he would count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - ready or not here i come.....and then run and run and run and then start all over again. he talked about it the whole next day. both boys got super spoiled doing some belated birthday shopping (thanks j&b!), and we took a drive in the mountains and stumbled across "railroad days" in georgetown, co. sweet pea and i rode an old buckboard wagon around town and had fun looking at all the old houses (and much renovation going on).
sweet pea discovered a hiding place in the bushes in the backyard. it's also where the rabbits like to go when the predators (moby and brad) come out to hunt them (not really - neither one would hurt a fly). but i spotted the first baby bunny yesterday and was not quick enough to get a picture. i have to say mommy and bunny were sooooo cute....
sweet pea started his first day in the rainbow room today. he could barely say goodbye as he ran to each area in the room to look at all the new toys. one of his old friends from "baby school" who i have NEVER heard say a word, was jumping up and down and dancing and screaming for sweetpea. i guess they were ready to move on. it's been a hard lesson for me to learn - letting go.
