the team in training group had their last fund raising event on monday, before the big ride in lake tahoe in 11 days. they raised another $3000 (roughly) bringing the team total to nearly (if not over) $50,000 for the leukemia & lymphoma society. i am so proud of the whole team, but especially brad, cj and grant for sticking with this thing and really pouring their hearts into fighting cancer and training their bottoms off (literally) to prepare for the ride. i'm sure brad will have lots to add to this, but i want to thank all of our friends and family for being so supportive of their efforts.
blogging about this just wouldn't be the same without adding one carterism....my sweet little pea has a tiny obsession with one of my coworkers that we fondly call mackadoo. sweet mackadoo's sister got married nearly two weeks ago and apparently those folks from wisconsin just can't get enough of bucky the badger.....so they just hired him and the band to show up at the wedding reception (which is actually a very fun and sweet idea - way to go mr. and mrs. s).
how does this relate to sweet pea and his obsession? at the fundraiser on monday, sweet pea struck up a conversation with mackadoo about her sister's wedding (he had been asking me about it for a week). then he looked at her and said, "badgers are mean." that's when i knew she'd won our long fought battle over which was a better mascot: the badger or a pioneer (i refuse to acknowledge ruckus the strange prairie bird that they've tried to adopt as mascot since my days at du). mackadoo was smiling at me when she said, "yes they are very mean and ferocious." i don't admit defeat easily. so even though sweet pea supported mackadoo's argument that badgers are worthy of mascot status, i know for a fact, that daniel boone would have eaten a badger for dinner if given the chance.
Awww, sweet lil carterman :) i couldn't have said it better myself, love it. go badgers!
