inspiration comes

{my dad's truck most fondly referred to as the bfrt}
i was driving to work today and zz top's la grange came screaming out of my radio.  my dad's favorite song.  when i walked into his shop for the first time, and took over the wood butcher as my own...i cranked the stereo and then stared at brad in awe as zz top belted it from beyond.  i don't know why i know this, but when i need my dad he's somewhere close.  reminding me.  it amazes and inspires me, always when i least expect it.

at a very long stoplight, i checked an email on my phone.  it was a comment from one of my longtime bloggy friends asking for paper goods from my etsy shop.  two things happened when i started sp&b.  1) i made some steps forward in my business vision and felt amazing.  2)  i lost a friendship, felt horrible and got really stuck in a rut.  sadly number 2 won the power struggle over my creativity.  what a waste of time that was.  i have been punishing myself ever since by ignoring the joy i find in details and creative thinking.  as i read tisha's comment i realized...ENOUGH.  i'm done being stuck and limited in my own creativity.  thanks for reminding me and inspiring me to keep moving and continue what i love.  onward and upward.

my friend, burgin, got to do an interview with roy mckie who is an amazing illustrator.  she has been posting about it this week on vintage kids' books my kid loves...here, here, here, here, and here.  mr. mckie illustrated one of our family's favorite books, snow.  please check out her blog, and her etsy shop for inspiration in vintage children's books.  she is an amazing writer and inspires me almost every single day.

 yesterday i got my haiti assignment (i'll tell you about it later).
my heart is there.  i am ready and so willing to go.

i bought and have been reading the family dinner by laurie david.  it's not always easy.  but it is always rewarding for brad and i.  last night beans got up from the table and whispered in my ear, "momma don't you want to ask about my day?"  i realized how our family dinner focus is making a good change for us.  one that is equally inspiring to the kids.

the sun is out.  i was singing at the top of my lungs in the car.  little tiny words and events made me feel so good this morning.  and inspired.  a perfect way to start the day.  xoxo
