haiti part 8 - hearts for haiti

UPDATE:  i have included a link to paypal for your convenience.  if you only knew how many hours it took me to get it to function you would laugh.  i'm hoping it works...but i'm not convinced.  please use sweetpeaandbeans [at] gmail [dot] com as the email address and use the personal tab/ gift for the donation.  let me know if you have problem.  i won't guarantee that i can fix it:)  but thank you in advance!

i put a lot of thought into all the little tasks i have been given to prepare for haiti. one night i was wide awake staring at the ceiling thinking of such things when it all came together. another team member had the idea to make some type of rice stuffed doll or animal that would be of use to adults and their children. but the plan had not been solidified.  the name of our blog is hearts for haiti. and i couldn't shake hearts. such an easy, universal shape for littles. such an easy shape to sew. our blog name. and voila!

with the help of a friend i started sewing and completed 100 Hearts for Haiti out of my old scrap fabric. sweet pea's class got involved and they put together some examples by stuffing the sewn Hearts with rice. they were so excited to help out and very eager to connect with children from another country. it was a perfect project for little hands.

so i'm thinking sweet bloggy friends and family...what if each of you sponsored a Heart? ($5 will cover the cost of rice in haiti)

each Heart holds about 2 cups of rice. 2 cups of rice makes 4 servings. 100 Hearts, 200 cups of rice, 400 people served.  i know we can do it.  leave a comment or email me at sweetpeaandbeans [at] gmail [dot] com. let me know how many Hearts you are willing to buy and how i can contact you to exchange specific information. i would be so incredibly thankful for any and all support!

the fine print
i will take care of everything. when we get to haiti we will buy the rice, stuff the Hearts and sew them shut. we will deliver the Hearts to either our host at the guest house or to the methodist church of haiti so that they may determine how to distribute the food. i will make sure that any excess funds are donated. this trip is sponsored by the united methodist church and funds for our trip have been collected by our team leader. however, i would be happy to collect any and all donations for the Hearts for Haiti project. donations are tax deductible...mrs. team leader will send you a letter if you so desire.
