ode to pencil yellow

just wanted to walk you through the first wood butcher project.  sweet pea picked out the color and it was perfect.  i wanted to include the original markings from the desk so that you all could fully appreciate how we (yes, i had a partner in crime) butchered this fine piece of furniture (not really.....my grandparents putting linoleum on the top surface with TAR was maybe the first step in its original demise).  but rest assured there is another identical table (untouched) in my living room.  just waiting to have the TAR scraped off of it.  it still looks nice as a sofa table.  if you don't look too close.  or touch the top.  don't you love how martha stewart makes everything new?  she has a way of reinventing herself things like that.  we should all learn from her.  oh...and speaking of learning.  i bought a paint sprayer.  and i was so horrible at it that we will have to redo this project anyway.  but funny story...one of my neighbors came over to find out what in the world i was doing.  and then taught me how to use the sprayer.  and thin paint.  and thicken paint.  and screw on the lid.  and plug it in (no...).  he was very benevolent when he said, "we all have to learn.  next time you'll totally get this."  i was nervous because i thought he caught me reading the directions...and then he was watching me as i proceeded to further bumble things with drippy paint splotches and paper towel clean up.  next time is right.  i will totally not screw up after i re-sand and thin the paint and spray with even coverage.  but the paint color is perfect.  butcher on my crafty friends!
