miss nelson

this is a vkbmkl type shout out to one of my all time favorite books from childhood.  miss nelson is missing by james marshall (1977).  i really just need to say that every time we read this book, my boys find the entire mystery surrounding miss nelson to be....(sweet peaism)..."very peculiar."  last night we had a very long debate about whether or not the swarm of angry butterflies, perhaps, really did take off with miss nelson.  i mean a really long debate.  rife with possibilities.  and yet, both boys totally understand that miss nelson has pretended to be miss viola swamp throughout the book.  they have adeptly solved the mystery on their own, and still they are always searching for answers.  they are keen on noticing the similarities and differences between miss nelson and miss swamp.  sweet pea was sure that miss viola swamp's cheek color did not look familiar to him.  yet the freckled nose was suspicious.  and sure enough...every time we finish the book there is that crazy nose sitting right on the dresser.  why would it be there?  and that ugly black dress in the closet underneath the box "that says WIG on it, mom?"  could it be a clue?  the hilarity of the conversations last night just really struck me.  my boys are so serious about solving the mystery.  every. single.  time.

  1. That's really funny! I still don't think Arielle figured it out either.
