let's have a little contest. winner gets my admiration. anyone know what this flower is? according to wildflowers of grand teton and yellowstone national parks by richard j. shaw (and conveniently found on the coffee table of the cabin) this flower's "boiled bulbs have a flavor of potatoes and were eaten by the indians and early western settlers when food was scarce." so, functional and beautiful. they are everywhere i look. sigh....

7 hours, i've waited... no one knows? i want to know... but i guess i could go into the stacks and look it up myself :) jh
