ski lesson # 8 and .....

last but not least. sweet pea ended on a fabulous note. after having his skis waxed things were amazingly easier and more enjoyable for his last lesson. he and ava mastered all of the basics except freestyle skiing (tricks). they can turn, stop, and get on and off the lift without help.
and most importantly they became powder hounds! mr. ray took them into knee deep powder (for them) and they were able to ski successfully through. then it became waist deep powder...neck deep powder...hee hee!
to his credit...beans was sick.
and he didn't feel up to skiing
(except when i told him he was too sick to ski...then he wanted to go...sort of). next year, he said.
he is my little three year old wild thing
(i kid you not that this was his shadow).
so sad to say goodbye to new friends.
goodbye to naps in the car...oh who am i kidding? we'll always have those....

goodbye to berthoud pass.

goodbye to back country skiers.
goodbye to the watchers of the mountain.

see you next time. xoxo
thank you so much for the opportunity and the privilege that my boys have been given.

  1. It has been so nice seeing the boys ski lesson journey through your eyes. Your such a great photographer, journalist and mom! Why are you working in an office doing accounting work?!?!? LOVE the wild things shadow. Lastly, does it bother you that those people bring their dogs on Berthoud Pass? I saw one almost get hit by a car when we went to WP a couple of weeks ago.

  2. Beautiful photographs. How lucky you are being able to be in such a fabulous place. I'd love our family to learn to ski - my great grandfather came from Austria and apparently skied to work every day. It must be in the genes surely?
