ski lesson # 6 and # 2

you all know how much i have loved this ski adventure i've been having with my boys for the last 6 weeks. brad said he hasn't seen me happier than on our days in the mountains. i am so lucky to live in colorado. i am in love with colorado. i am in love with the mountains. and i would marry them if i could.
*
yesterday was mostly uneventful. there was a lot of blah going on with the boys. they did not have a great time at their lessons. mr. ray was frustrated. sweet pea told him that he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. mr. andy gave a stern lecture to the parents of beansie's class because the "other mothers" dropped in on the mountain to say hello to their children and i did not. thus sending poor beans into an unstoppable tizzy. no mother's allowed, he said.
*
mr. andy said that beans was really improving before the "other mother" episode. and have i mentioned how much i love mr. ray. he is so good with sweet pea. they were able to make up before we left winter park...and sweet pea was grinning from ear to ear as mr. ray scooped him up and carried him to me. while he was on skis. sweet pea thought it was super fun to be zooming across mt. maury with mr. ray.

finally...winter park is home to the national sports center for the disabled. while i was camped out in the lodge reading my book, another mom erupted in cheers as she saw her son coming down the mountain for the very first time. he was in the equivalent to a wheel chair on skis, with a harness and a skiier behind him. she was elated. i know how it feels to see your kiddo accomplish that task. i was so excited for her. next year we're getting our friend max up there. i can't wait!!!

i noticed today on design mom, that she took a trip to copper mountain in order to review how fabulous the colorado mountains are. she mentions at the end of her post that colorado ski country usa is pairing with bloggers for this very purpose. SIGN ME UP! i am not so secretly jealous.

  1. I think Arielle had her lesson with the same "MR ANDY" when we stayed at WP this past weekend! She did very well and we ended up skiing together as a family the next day! It was fun (and scary at the same time).

  2. Speaking of Cooper Mountain...I got this advert from them two days ago on a post card:

    http://www.coppercolorado.com/winter/landingpages/swinger.html

I was rolling laughing at it.

Also we did the Fans on the Field 5K up in D (sponsored by the Nat'l Sports Center for the Disabled) a couple of years ago with all 4 kids. Good times.
