freshies

i said this on facebook yesterday....sweet pea has that look in his eye. the one his daddy gets when there is fresh fallen snow. i sensed the same anticipation driving up the hill that makes his dad like a kid in a candy store. at the summit of the pass his "green" eyes lingered on the back country skiers. heading down the mountain towards mary jane the anticipation was building...only minutes until winter park and mt. maury. we were a smidge worried that there would be a struggle. being "monica's" son (a little friends humor for those in the know) it's hard not to be a master on the first try. but lo and behold that kid took to skiing like beans to water. and i will say that for once i was not the mom coaxing her child to do something he wasn't sure about. he was like, "see ya!" and i might have shed a tiny tear as they drove him up the mountain on the snowmobile (icky, yucky, snow machines playing in my head). i love those little moments of achievement and am excited that our love for the mountains, skiing and winter may have rubbed off a bit.
