favorites list

i've been noticing everyone posting on their blogs their special "favorite" items from the season. i read this piece about holiday nostalgia, written by one of my bloggy friends. ok, so it's one of my favorite things i've read this season. seeing as i'm especially nostalgic living in the home of my grandparents and parents; in the town of my grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins. there's a million memories and a certain anticipation for times to come. i am working hard to maintain my spirit even though our lives have changed so much. i'm working on the spirit of giving and sharing. even if more through experiences and closeness rather than gifts and material.
i like that i have bloggy friends that i do not know in real life. it's interesting, no? these three girls: jennie, tisha and scribbler, were my firsts in the blogging world. first comment, first conversation...first mom's i found something in common with outside my "real" life. and in a world of excellent bloggers it's nice to know where you started and keep track of those sweet girlies who were there with you.
i super love burl ives on pandora. even though i'll cuddle up to charlie brown Christmas at least once a day. at work.i love looking at the blue jays outside my kitchen window in the morning. i'm learning to listen to their conversations, and boy do they talk alot.
i love the christmas lights on our house and on our street. the prettiest in town. you can see our street across the river, over the valley floor and trees...all the way past the train tracks from the highway.
i love that we found a pizza place, the garlic knot, that will deliver to our house. there's only one. and i love that the pizza delivery teen said, " i was worried that i wouldn't be able to find your house. but when i came over the hill i knew where i was going. i could see your house from miles away."
i love getting out the hat and scarf for my wine bottle. there's nothing better than a dressed up bottle of red. well...maybe a glass of red is better. but they don't make clothes for that occasion. well they do...just forget it. what happened to that glass anyway?
i love that on my morning commute i can see pikes peak behind me and longs peak ahead.
i love that despite the fact that friendships come and go, there are some that you can always count on (and not just moby's....i am blessed with the best friends). no matter what. i love my husband. i love my boys. i love the way that family is always there. sigh....my cup runneth over. again.

  1. I love this post :) I love seeing Pikes Peak every day, too :) I do love that you are in your "new" home...and the story behind it. My oldes daughter came home with a painted picture from her art class of Blue Jays on snowy branches just like that!

  6. so amazing when you start thinking about all of the good things, the bad things fade away into the background... giving way for the realization that blessings abound! we're all blessed by having YOU in our lives!
