the weekend in review

we started off at the crack of dawn on saturday for the moore farm races IV. of course we couldn't make the 2 hour drive east without the assistance of starbucks. sweet pea loves himself some hot chocolate.
and as i said we headed east 2 hours to simla, co where our friend jean's family puts on a shindig like no other. with a shotgun start (yep try explaining the gun thing to a kid who is just learning about guns. he was one part fascinated and one part terrified...) the racers braved the rainy day to race 3 miles around the moore farm.
to get to the finish line you have to run and bike with your partner, while completing several obstacles not the least of which is the enormous mud pit right before the finish line.
tall jen and brad competed together (brad with an achilles problem, and jen fresh out of knee surgery - don't think i was getting out there and RUNNING of all things. i was busy chasing kids, what more do you want?!!) uncle kevin designed the tshirts.here's beans chasing dad to the finish. thank goodness i brought clothes for him to change into. the mud pit does such a good job of luring people in. after the race there were many children (matt and brad) wearing themselves out in there.
thanks, jean and your family, for having us out and feeding us an amazing meal.
we can't wait for next year. sweet pea is already talking about it....
