the office

we were visiting grandma bobbi's office today. it's not your typical office setting, but she often is required to watch the sun rise and set from work. not unlike a lot of people, really, but this is her view. you can't argue with that (well unless you like the concrete jungle and the wildlife you find there). papa and uncle zach bought sweet pea a national park passport. i swear i had no idea what a big deal these little books were. but we ventured into the visitor center at moose, wy and got our first official passport cancellation and sticker for grand teton national park. it was very exciting as you can imagine. i understand that gma and gpa are or were doing a passport for all the counties in idaho, and uncle kevin and aunt debbie are doing one for baseball. i can see how this could become addictive. i'm already plotting how and when we will be able to hit rocky mountain and the great sand dunes in colorado this summer.
the wildflowers on teton pass were amazing. just a sea of yellow (which is good because beans can say that word). we hiked 1 mile with the boys and sweet pea gathered rocks to throw in string lake and climbed the rocks he couldn't carry.
beans was so fascinated by the scenery that he just sent himself right off to sleep."you have to look for the loveliness of america; it is not obvious; it is scattered; but when you find it, it touches you and binds you to it like a great secret oath taken in silence."

if you haven't been to jackson, wy. don't go. it's too beautiful for any more visitors. we'd like to have it all to ourselves (tee hee).

  3. what's a national park passport? I'm familiar only with the traditional one required for international travel... Your vacation looks beautiful. I love traveling "out west" as us in the eastern midwest call it. CO, WY, and SD are all so beautiful!

  4. it kind of looks like a passport, but it lists out all of the national parks by region and you can take your little book to the park visitor center and get it date stamped to show you were there. sweet pea had a great time with it and we bought him the official sticker to put in his book. fun times, fun times....
